This article is based on material extracted, with permission, from the [Apollo Flight Journal] by David Woods and Frank O'Brien. (December 30, 2004 release with updates through August 21, 2005.) The creation of the Apollo Flight Journal owes much to its predecessor, the [Apollo Lunar Surface Journal] by Eric Jones. David Woods originally started the Apollo Flight Journal from Technical and Public Affairs Office transcripts made at the time, with help from NASA's History Office. These were converted to electronic text and checked, where possible, with audio recordings of the air ground communications. David and Frank O'Brien collaborated on adding relevant commentary, along with other supporting material was derived from research of the Flight Plan, CSM and LM checklists, mission reports, debriefings and contemporary and later books and documents. Mission photography was included where available. Additional work was done by Ken Glover, Joseph O'Dea, Kipp Teague, Lennie Waugh and Robin Wheeler.

The corrected transcript, commentary, and other text incorporated in the Apollo Flight Journal is protected by copyright. No portion of the Journal may be reproduced or copied onto any medium (except as required by browsing software) without express permission from the authors. Specifically, the unauthorized creation of personal copies, or of copies for sale is prohibited. Unauthorized commercial use of the Apollo Flight Journal is prohibited; and the commercial use of the name or likeness of any of the astronauts without his express permission is prohibited. The United States Government retains a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish or reproduce the published form of the Apollo Flight Journal, or to allow others to do so, for U.S. Government purposes.
